PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana 2026: The Complete Subsidy Breakdown

If you are planning to install rooftop solar in 2026, the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is the most important financial scheme to understand. Launched with a ₹75,021 crore budget, it aims to provide up to 300 units of free electricity per month to 1 crore Indian households.

But how much money do you actually get back? The Central Financial Assistance (CFA) is strictly based on the capacity of the system you install.

The 2026 Subsidy Structure

The subsidy is capped at a maximum of ₹78,000, transferred directly to your bank account (DBT) after the installation is complete and inspected by your local DISCOM.

  • Up to 2 kW: You receive ₹30,000 per kW. (Total: ₹60,000 for a 2 kW system).
  • For the 3rd kW: You receive an additional ₹18,000. (Total: ₹78,000 for a 3 kW system).
  • Above 3 kW: The central subsidy caps at ₹78,000. Whether you install a 4 kW or a 10 kW system, the central government payout will not exceed this amount.

State Top-Ups

Depending on where you live, you might be eligible for additional funds. For example, Uttar Pradesh offers an extra ₹15,000 per kW (up to ₹30,000).
