BHEL Signs Technology Transfer Agreement with NSTL-DRDO for Naval Vessel Infrared Suppression Systems

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has entered into a Licensing Agreement for Transfer of Technology (LAToT) with Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam, a constituent laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), for the fabrication, installation and commissioning of LM2500 Gas Turbine Infrared Suppression Systems (GT-IRSS) for naval vessels.

The agreement focuses on Gas Turbine-Infrared Suppression Systems designed and developed indigenously by NSTL-DRDO, India. The technology will enable BHEL to undertake end-to-end execution of the LM2500 GT-IRSS for defence applications in the naval segment.

BHEL stated that the collaboration will strengthen its diversification strategy in the defence sector while supporting the Government of India’s Make in India initiative by promoting indigenous manufacturing capabilities for strategic maritime systems.

The company clarified that the agreement is domestic in nature, while details regarding consideration paid and significant commercial terms remain confidential. The transaction does not fall under related party transactions, and no promoter or group company interest is involved.

The disclosure was made by Jaya Mitra, Manager, Corporate Communication, BHEL, in an official communication submitted to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited.
