Danfoss Power Solutions has introduced its new PC-PRO propel software, designed to enhance the performance, efficiency, and control of hydrostatic drive systems used in off-highway machinery.
The software acts as a single-path propel solution, delivering highly precise speed and torque control across both automotive and non-automotive applications. It is specifically developed for machines such as wheel loaders, dumpers, telehandlers, harvesters, and forestry equipment, where hydrostatic transmissions play a critical role.
At the core of PC-PRO is a combination of advanced digital features that significantly improve machine behaviour. These include auto-inch control, smart calibration routines, and an advanced all-range ECO mode, all aimed at enhancing efficiency, consistency, and responsiveness while reducing machine startup time.
One of the standout features is the all-range ECO mode, which automatically adjusts engine speed relative to vehicle demand. This helps reduce fuel consumption, lower operating costs, and minimise noise levels, improving both machine efficiency and operator comfort.
The software also introduces a smart work function interface, enabling machines to dynamically respond to changing load conditions. For instance, when additional power is required for lifting or steering functions, the system automatically adjusts engine speed while maintaining smooth vehicle movement. This ensures a balance between power delivery and operational precision.
Another key advancement lies in smart calibration capabilities, which allow faster commissioning and consistent performance across machines. By compensating for variations in pump and motor characteristics, the system ensures uniform behaviour across fleets, reducing setup time and simplifying deployment for OEMs.
PC-PRO is built on Danfoss’ existing propel platform and incorporates proven features such as anti-stall protection, overspeed safeguards, temperature management, and cruise control, while adding a new layer of intelligence and adaptability.
The software is configurable using the PLUS+1® service tool, allowing manufacturers to customise settings quickly based on machine requirements. It also supports multiple control types, including electric displacement control (EDC), non-feedback proportional electric control (NFPE), and hybrid load control systems, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
This launch reflects a broader industry trend where construction and off-highway equipment is moving toward software-driven performance optimisation, integrating digital control, automation, and energy efficiency into core machine functions.
With PC-PRO, Danfoss is advancing hydrostatic drive technology from a purely mechanical system to a more intelligent, adaptive, and efficiency-focused platform, supporting the next generation of high-performance construction and industrial equipment.
