NTPC Limited has announced the uprating of two units at its Dadri Thermal Power Station, enhancing their capacity from 490 MW each to 500 MW each. The revision, approved by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), came into effect on April 7, 2026.
The capacity enhancement applies to Unit 5 and Unit 6 of the Dadri Thermal Power Station, marking a technical upgrade that marginally increases generation capability without additional infrastructure expansion.
Following this development, NTPC Group’s total installed capacity has risen to 89,128 MW, while its commercial capacity now stands at 88,048 MW, further strengthening its position as India’s leading power producer.
The company disclosed the update in a regulatory filing to stock exchanges under SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The uprating reflects ongoing efficiency improvements across NTPC’s thermal fleet, aimed at optimizing output and supporting the country’s growing electricity demand.
