A wave of celebration swept through the Aam Aadmi Party after a special CBI court acquitted party chief Arvind Kejriwal and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
While senior AAP leaders publicly welcomed the verdict, the silence of Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has sparked intense debate and criticism online.
Silence Raises Questions Within AAP
As of the time of publication, Chadha has not issued any public statement or social media post reacting to the acquittal. His absence from the celebratory messaging has led to speculation about possible cracks within the party’s leadership.
Notably, Chadha has been associated with the Aam Aadmi Party since its inception in 2012 and is widely seen as one of its prominent young faces.
Netizens Lash Out on Social Media
Several users on X (formerly Twitter) questioned Chadha’s loyalty and expressed anger over his silence. Some accused him of being ungrateful to the party leadership that elevated him to national prominence.
One user wrote, “Kejriwal made him an MP, gave him recognition. Today he didn’t even tweet once. Have some shame.”
Another user shared a screenshot of a direct message allegedly sent to Chadha, questioning why he could not post even a single supportive message after the verdict.
Others went further, alleging that his silence indicated discomfort with the court’s decision, with comments such as “Is he playing from the other side?” and “This shows which side he is batting for.”
Past Absence Also Recalled
Social media users also recalled Chadha’s absence for nearly 71 days in 2024, when Kejriwal was arrested and sent to jail. At the time, Chadha had explained in a television interview that he was abroad for an academic lecture and later underwent preventive eye surgery.
Defending himself then, Chadha had said that false allegations were being used to derail his political journey and added, “Do not strive to make your presence felt, make your absence felt.”
No Official Response Yet
The AAP has not issued any official clarification regarding Chadha’s silence, nor has the MP responded to the criticism so far. Meanwhile, the online backlash continues to grow, with supporters demanding a public show of solidarity from the party leader.
As celebrations continue within AAP over the acquittal, Raghav Chadha’s quiet stance has unexpectedly become a talking point, shifting attention from the legal victory to internal party dynamics.
