Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has announced that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.
According to official data, the state installed 52,729 rooftop solar systems in March alone, taking the total installations to 4,48,233 across Uttar Pradesh. These systems are generating approximately 1,524 MW of electricity daily, significantly boosting the state’s clean energy capacity.
Cities like Lucknow (7,684), Kanpur (3,316), Varanasi (3,122), and Bareilly (2,320) have led the adoption, with 12 districts crossing 1,000 installations each. The initiative has also contributed to the creation of over 60,000 green jobs, along with the daily generation of nearly 68.60 lakh units of electricity.
The rapid growth in rooftop solar adoption highlights Uttar Pradesh’s leadership in India’s residential solar segment and reflects the growing momentum of decentralized renewable energy across the country.
In line with this accelerating growth, platforms like the upcoming PowerPax India Expo are expected to play a crucial role in bringing together industry stakeholders, showcasing innovations, and further promoting rooftop solar adoption and clean energy solutions across India.
In this context, the upcoming PowerPax India Renewable Energy Expo 2026, scheduled to be held on May 02–03, 2026, in Varanasi, is expected to play a vital role in accelerating such developments. The expo will bring together key stakeholders, including policymakers, EPC companies, technology providers, and investors, offering a platform to explore opportunities in solar deployment across sectors like railways and public infrastructure. Registration is free.
With increasing focus on clean energy integration, initiatives like these, supported by industry platforms such as PowerPax, are set to drive Uttar Pradesh’s transition toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
