Delhi–Dehradun Expressway Set for Inauguration on April 14

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the much-anticipatedModi Modi on April 14, marking a major milestone in regional connectivity and highway infrastructure development.

The expressway, spanning approximately 210 km, has been developed to significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun, bringing it down from around 6–7 hours to nearly 2.5–3 hours.

Constructed at an estimated cost of around ₹12,000 crore, the project has been executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and is designed as a high-speed access-controlled corridor, aimed at improving both passenger and freight movement across the region.

One of the key highlights of the expressway is its wildlife-friendly infrastructure, including dedicated elevated corridors and underpasses in forest areas, particularly through sensitive zones like the Rajaji National Park stretch. These features are designed to ensure minimal ecological disruption while maintaining high-speed connectivity.

The project also incorporates modern highway engineering features, including multiple interchanges, service roads, and safety systems, enhancing overall driving efficiency and user experience.

Beyond connectivity, the expressway is expected to provide a significant boost to tourism, regional trade, and economic activity in Uttarakhand and adjoining regions. Improved access to Dehradun and nearby hill destinations is likely to drive higher tourist inflow and support local businesses.

The inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway represents a major step forward in India’s expanding expressway network, reinforcing the government’s focus on fast, efficient, and sustainable road infrastructure development.
