Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has approved a series of major infrastructure initiatives aimed at transforming Nagpur into a strategic economic and logistics hub under the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA).
The approved plan includes the development of a new Outer Ring Road, integrated logistics parks, and the proposed International Business and Finance Centre (IBFC), forming a comprehensive blueprint for urban and industrial expansion in the region.
The Outer Ring Road project is designed to ease congestion within the city while creating a high-capacity corridor for freight movement. It is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and strengthen connectivity with key industrial zones.
Alongside this, the development of logistics hubs will support more efficient goods movement and supply chain operations, positioning Nagpur as a central node in India’s logistics network.
A major highlight of the plan is the International Business and Finance Centre, which aims to attract investments, promote commercial activity, and generate employment opportunities in high-value sectors.
To support these projects, a structured funding plan has been approved, with NMRDA expected to raise resources through institutional financing backed by state support. The financial model is designed to ensure timely execution while maintaining long-term viability.
The integrated approach reflects a broader vision to drive balanced regional development by combining infrastructure, logistics, and business ecosystems within a single growth framework.
Once implemented, these initiatives are expected to enhance Nagpur’s role as a key economic centre in central India, improving connectivity, boosting investments, and strengthening its position in the national infrastructure landscape.
