Godrej Enterprises Group has announced plans to invest around ₹100 crore in its aerospace business over the next three years as the company strengthens its capabilities in aero engine manufacturing, advanced aerospace systems, and precision engineering.
The investment will be directed towards design and research, new product development, advanced digital manufacturing technologies, and capability expansion aimed at supporting India’s growing aerospace and defence ecosystem. The company said the move aligns with its long-term strategy of accelerating innovation-led growth while contributing to the country’s indigenous aerospace manufacturing ambitions.
According to the company, the aerospace business has emerged as a key participant in India’s aero engine and aviation manufacturing sector and is currently engaged in the production of critical components and assemblies for leading global aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Godrej Aerospace stated that the investment will focus heavily on strengthening high-precision manufacturing, digital engineering systems, advanced machining technologies, and specialised aerospace production capabilities. The company is also expanding its engineering and research infrastructure to support complex aerospace programmes and next-generation propulsion systems.
Maneck Behramkamdin, Business Head of the Aerospace Business at Godrej Enterprises Group, said continued investments in innovation, advanced manufacturing, and workforce capability will help the company support India’s aero engine ambitions while strengthening its role in the global aerospace supply chain.
Godrej Aerospace currently partners with several global aerospace and aviation companies including Boeing, Safran Aircraft Engines, GE Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, and RTX for the manufacturing of complex aerospace systems and engine components. The company has established itself as a supplier of safety-critical aerospace parts and assemblies for both civil and defence aviation programmes.
Industry reports indicate that Godrej Aerospace is currently the only private company in India with demonstrated capability to manufacture all major modules of an aero engine, including fans, compressors, combustors, turbines, and exhaust systems.
The company’s aerospace division has recorded strong business momentum in recent years, with nearly 25 per cent year-on-year growth and exports rising by over 30 per cent as India increasingly integrates into global aerospace supply chains.
Alongside the ₹100 crore investment plan, the company is also expanding its manufacturing footprint. Reports suggest that Godrej Aerospace is developing a new large-scale aerospace manufacturing facility near Khalapur outside Mumbai, which is expected to significantly increase production capacity for aero engine and aerospace component manufacturing.
The announcement comes at a time when India is aggressively promoting domestic aerospace and defence manufacturing under initiatives such as Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India. The country is witnessing rising investments in aircraft manufacturing, defence aviation, engine technologies, maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) infrastructure, and advanced aerospace component production.
Industry experts believe the latest investment by Godrej Enterprises Group could further strengthen India’s position in global aerospace manufacturing while supporting the development of indigenous aero engine technologies and advanced aviation systems.
